The job description of the cerebellum and a candidate model of its “tidal wave” function.Robert E. Shaw, Endre E. Kadar & M. T. Turvey - 1997 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 20 (2):265-265.
A path space integral approach to modelling the job description of the cerebellum is proposed. This new approach incorporates the equation into a kind of generalized Huygens's wave equation. The resulting exponential functional integral provides a mathematical expression of the inhibitory function by which the cerebellum the intended control signal from the background of neuronal excitation.

Robotics and Well-Being.Maria Isabel Aldinhas Ferreira, João Silva Sequeira, Gurvinder Singh Virk, Mohammad Osman Tokhi & Endre E. Kadar (eds.) - 2019 - Springer Verlag.
This book highlights some of the most pressing safety, ethical, legal and societal issues related to the diverse contexts in which robotic technologies apply. Focusing on the essential concept of well-being, it addresses topics that are fundamental not only for research, but also for industry and end-users, discussing the challenges in a wide variety of applications, including domestic robots, autonomous manufacturing, personal care robots and drones.

    From discrete actors to goal-directed actions: Toward a process-based methodology for psychology.Endre E. Kadar & Judith A. Effken - 2005 - Philosophical Psychology 18 (3):353 – 382.
Studying social phenomena is often assumed to be inherently different from studying natural science phenomena. In psychology, this assumption has led to a division of the field into social and experimental domains. The same kind of division has carried over into ecological psychology, despite the fact that Gibson clearly intended his theory for both social and natural phenomena. In this paper, we argue that the social/natural science dichotomy can be derived from a distinction between hermeneutics and science that is deeply (...)

    Process based functionalism instead of structural functionalism is needed.Endre E. Kadar & M. T. Turvey - 1997 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 20 (3):533-533.
Latash & Anson's intention to describe only the regularities of motor behavior is compromised by the homunculus paradigm. Although we concur on the need to redefine in atypical populations, we contend that this enterprise requires a process based functionalism. We argue for accommodating movement control and perceptual processes with physical and task constraints in a natural setting.

Path space integrals for modeling experimental measurements of cerebellar functioning.Endre E. Kadar, Robert E. Shaw & M. T. Turvey - 1997 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 20 (2):253-254.
A propagator for a path space integral can be used to represent the and provides a natural way to model a control signal that is temporally segmented by placement of pairs of stimulating and recording electrodes. Although care must be exercised in interpreting the resulting measurement, the technique should prove useful to experimenters who study cerebellar functioning.

    Students' attitudes to ethics in the medical school curriculum.E. E. Shelp, M. L. Russell & N. P. Grose - 1981 - Journal of Medical Ethics 7 (2):70-73.
A survey of 106 medical students assessing their interest in and attitudes to medical ethics in the curriculum is reported by the authors. Results indicate that 64 per cent of the students rated the importance of medical ethics to good medical care as high or critical and 66 per cent desired to learn more about the topic. However, in reports of patient encounters identifying ethical issues, less than six per cent of the students reported a frequency of more than one (...)

    Spiritual Pregnancy in Plato's Symposium.E. E. Pender - 1992 - Classical Quarterly 42 (01):72-.
Although Plato's notion of spiritual pregnancy has received a great deal of critical attention in recent years, the development of the metaphor in the Symposium has not been fully analysed. Close attention to the details of the image reveals two important points which have so far been overlooked: There are two quite different types of spiritual pregnancy in the Symposium: a ‘male’ type, which is analogous to the build-up to physical ejaculation, and a ‘female’ type, which is analogous to the (...)

Consideration of the drive properties of the mammillary bodies solves the “fornix problem”.E. E. Krieckhaus - 1999 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 22 (3):456-458.
Fornix problem: Why do lesions of the fornix, which connects the hippocampus (HF) to the medial mammillary nucleus (MMN), often cause no deficits in tasks severely affected by lesions of HF or MMN? Solution: The direct HF feedback to antero ventral (AV) thalamus (MMN [Rightarrow A: implies] AV [Leftrightarrow A: l&r dbl arrow] HF), which is blocked by MMN lesions but not fornix lesions, is sufficient for nonscene-relevant consolidation.

Papez dreams: Mechanism and phenomenology of dreaming.E. E. Krieckhaus - 2000 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 23 (6):961-962.
I agree with Revonsuo that dreaming, particularly about risky scenes, has a great selective advantage. Although the paleoamygdala system generally facilitates stress and alarm, the system which inhibits stress and alarm, initiates bold actions, and mediates learning in risky scenes is the arche, hippocampal system (Papez circuit). Because all thalamic nuclei are inhibited during sleep except arche, Papez probably also dreams in risky scenes. [Revonsuo].

    Easy Lessons in Economics.E. E. Houseley - 2016 - Cambridge University Press.
Originally published in 1933, this book was written to provide the younger reader with a guide to the basic elements of economics, preparing them with the tools to earn a living and spend money in a responsible fashion. The text was based on a series of lessons 'given to pupils of ordinary ability during their last two terms in a reorganized senior school'. Illustrative figures are included. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in economics and (...)

Some viewpoints on the origin and evolution of flowering plants.E. E. Leppik - 1955 - Acta Biotheoretica 11 (2):45-56.
Some recent trends of modern biology, which seem to have a most consequential influence to the further treatment of the problem of the origin and evolution of flowering plants, are shortly reviewed in this article.Several new discoveries and observations about pollinating insects revealed to some extent the mystery of the evolution of flower types. The deciphering of the definite signs and codes of communication among social insects and the interpretation of a well developed sign language of bees belong to the (...)
